The Middleborough Board of Assessors is responsible for the full and fair market valuation of real and personal property for the purpose of levying the property tax as of January 1st every year. It is the responsibility of the Assessors office to maintain valuations at full and fair cash value and to meet the Commissioner of Revenue’s re-certification requirements of property valuation annually. The Assessors office collects data and maintains a database on each parcel of property in town.

The Assessors’ office is responsible for the administration of the 27,000 excise bills which are issued by the Registry of Motor Vehicles annually. The office is also responsible for the administration of Boat Excise, Farm Animal and Machinery Excise, Water, Sewer and Septic Betterments, Farmland, Recreational and Forestry Management Classification and Rollback Tax calculation, Statutory Exemptions and Charitable Exemptions. We process all Motor Vehicle, Real Estate, Boat and Personal Property Abatements and maintain the database that tracks all of these assessments, abatements and exemptions.

Every effort to ensure the accuracy of the database is taken by the Assessors’ Office. If you find any discrepancies with your property record, please bring it to the attention of the Assessors’ Office for correction. It is our mission to maintain accurate records and to provide the taxpayers of Middleborough prompt and efficient service.
